Lizard Character Creator Rig
Notable Accomplishments: Used blend shapes and the Maya shape editor to create a detailed character creator rig including multiple body types, clothing options, and facial controls.
Program: Maya
IDE: Visual Studio 2022
Production Time: 3 weeks
This is a game-ready character creator rig that I created in Maya. The rig features a “Build-A-Gecko!” editor interface which allows users to alter various sliders in order to change the character’s body type, clothing accessories, and facial expressions. Every aspect of the rig was developed myself, with the exception of the base lizard model, which was created by a peer.
Clay Beats
Notable Accomplishments: Used Maya and Blender to create dynamic and animator-friendly rigs for 3D characters, including IK/FK switches, independent hips, and python-driven facial expressions. Created lively character animations in accordance to gameplay and narrative needs, including walk, idle, and interaction cycles.
Engine: Unreal Engine 5
Size of Team: 20
Roles: Rigging/Animator, animation engineer, Systems Designer
Clay Beats is a silly pottery-based couch co-op rhythm game developed in Unreal Engine 5. Players and their friends must work in harmony to explore a colorful overworld, talk to plucky animal characters, and master the art of musical pottery in increasingly hectic rhythm mini-games.
Animation Source Code Review + Analysis
This is a presentation on animation source code in both Unreal Engine 5 and Godot, which I created and presented for a master’s programming course at the University of Utah. Wanting more experience with large codebases, I hopped into the UE5 and Godot source code to better understand how each engine handles common systems like frame interpolation, animation playback, and skeletal deformation.
